How do you prepare venison? Not ground, cubed or chopped but as a roast, shank or steak.?
I made a venison pot roast in a crock pot that was delicious and pretty much indistinguishable from beef pot roast. I rinsed the roast and rubbed it with my preferred seasoning blend and pounded it a bit to tenderize. Then I added Lipton Onion Soup mix and water and left it on low overnight (you could start in a.m. and cook all day, just as easily.) When meat is brown and beginning to tender, add vegetables either fresh, frozen, or canned (drain canned ones). I used potatoes, carrots, and mushrooms, but you could vary these according to taste (onions would be good too!) You can also add ingredients such as flour or cornstarch to make a brown roux gravy, or add tomato sauce for a different flavor.
The longer you cook this, the more tender and tasty it gets!
