Fair Trade vs Name Brand Coffee?
What is the difference between Fair Trade Coffee and Name Brand Coffee ? I need help A.S.A.P thanks
Can anyone be more specific to what name brand coffee actually is and why it is compared to fair trade coffee ? I know name brand coffee is a big brand but whats the real difference. What does name brand coffee offer that fair trade coffee does not
Fair trade coffee is not necessarily distinct from name brand coffee. For example : starbucks (an obvious name brand) sells at least one fair trade coffee blend (I cannot remember specifically – I think it was Cafe Estima.)
The effect of fair trade is that the companies participating in the program (which involves licensing and observant third-parties to ensure the “fairness”) pay a bit extra per pound of green beans.
The fair trade program also includes access to education related to the industries that the farmers (in this case) can make use of in an effort to create a sustainable business model and survive any natural problems (the weather).
