Santo Domingo

what did the Monks of Santo Domingo De Silos do with the money they made?
My music class assignment asks me to google the Monks of Santo Domingo De Silos and find out what they did with the money they made. I cant find anything about where the proceeds went. Anyone know? I assume they gave it to a charity or used it to preserve their compound.
if you listen to the current tv evangelicals, you’re aware of the vast needs for money religious organizations have. if you want to find out how the monies obtained from their cds and other sources of income, are used, monastery documents will contain records of them. since santo domingo de silos is a working monastery today, you could contact them and ask how the funds are used today. monastics are good record keepers and so is whatever the spanish IRS is:
http://www.abadiadesilos.es/contacto.htm
this link provides telephone number and other contact info. do not be intimidated that it is in spanish. there are monks there who speak english. some are from the united states or england. to be prepared, you could ask a fellow student who is studying spanish or a spanish instructor to assist. you might want to have a fax number availble in case they want to fax the info to you.
maintaining the vast complex of buildings they have, dating from the medieval times, would be very, very costly and relentless, as well as utilities, and the costs for education, food, clothing, medical, technology and various middle men for their cds are very expensive. there would be other fees and various charities, as you yourself inferred.
but i am sure you can get the specifics from them.
