Coffee does not help the person wake up
Refreshing effect of coffee – just an illusion, believe British scientists. Many say they can not fully soobrazhat in the morning until they drink a cup of coffee. And avid coffee lover might really feel energized after drinking the first cup. In an experiment conducted by the British took part in 379 test. About half of the subjects did not drink little or no drinking coffee, while others used it in medium or large doses. They were all asked to indicate their level of excitement and concentration and indicate whether they have not suffered from headaches before and after consumption of caffeine or placebo. They were also asked to perform a series of tasks on the computer to check the level of memory, attention and vigilance. Those who usually drank coffee, but the study took the placebo reported a fall of concentration and headaches, and these symptoms were not found in those who drank coffee.
However, their level of concentration reached after consumption of caffeine, does not exceed it in those who received placebo in the study, in everyday life without using little or no use of coffee. This suggests that the favorite drink of coffee people, only leads them to the normal state.
A cup of instant coffee contains 60-100 mg of caffeine, depending on the strength beverage. A cup of latte or espresso – 90-200 mg. A cup of tea contain 30-100 mg of caffeine. For comparison, 40-50 mg of caffeine contained in 55-gram chocolate bar.
Manufacturers of coffee does not agree with the conclusions of scientists. To better understand the problem needs further study, says executive director of the British Coffee Association Dr Euan Paul. “There are innumerable array of data showing that caffeine still raises the level of concentration, acting as a stimulant on the central nervous system, provoking the adrenaline rush,” – he said.
“The effect we find not only people with low levels of concentration, such as night-shift workers, or those who wake up early in the morning, but he also found even in those whose concentration is already high,” – he added. Coffee, when it is used sparingly, ie at no more than four or five cups a day, is safe, says Dr. Paul.
